When you call our office after hours, you will be given the choice to leave a message for the office when we reopen or to talk with our answering service. The answering service, with your permission, have trained nurses who call you and answer your questions to help you to decide what to do next. If they, or you, decide you should talk to a doctor, the call will be sent to our on-call doctor. He or she will call you back as soon as possible. One of our physicians is always on call to deal with emergencies.
If you have not heard from us within 30 minutes, please call the answering service again to assure the correct phone number was recorded or there is another reason that may prevent us from contacting you. Also, make sure you are accepting blocked calls.
Emergencies are considered to be those conditions that are life-threatening: loss of consciousness, severe bleeding, seizure, etc. In the case of minor emergencies (lacerations, cuts, mild fractures, sprains), please call our office first for instructions.
